Another sub-genre appears to be Hillbilly bop from the late 40s through the early 50s. Trying to put the 45's into the correct spots, sometimes is quite the the task. Personally, we base it on the beat, instrumentation, and to some extent lyrical content. Just listed on Ebay a prime example, Bing Day's 45 on Mercury. The A-Side is the well known "I Can't Help It" a nice rockabilly number, but the flip is a smoky, exotic example of popcorn. "Mama's Place" oozes cool from every pore, with nice musical flourishes intertwined with daddy-o lyrics. We have found popcorn everywhere, country flips, big band flips, vocalists flips...it seems to be everywhere!
